What's in your Bag?

Check out what I have on my knitting needles, it's a cute bag for my ipad 2. The yarn is Noro, color is Silk garden lite. I am almost done, once I've closed the bottom portion, all that I will have left to complete it, will be the (3) roses that will go on the top corner. I need to complete this before Saturday, as I have a Knitting Demo. I have this part-time gig, working on the weekends at Michael's, as an Instructor, teaching knitting. I really enjoy it. Plus the employee discounts is not bad.

This summer has been one of completion, as we've completed so many projects that we had on the "Must do list". Unfortunately not knitting projects, those continue to line up my hobby closet. With two jobs, getting certifications, and working on these above mention projects. I've had to put most of the knitting, and spinning for that matter, on hold.

As soon as the fall weather starts to kick in, I know I will tackle the knitting project list. My first priority on that list will have to be my friends shawl, which I've promise her like a year ago. I hope she does not think I've forgotten her. Who knows maybe it will be there in time for Christmas.

New Year 2011

This year I've decided to put a dent on my spinning wool. To begin I dug into some llama wool, which I've purchased from Tao New Mexico. It is simply as soft, and yummy as can be. It's spinning up lovely. By the way, did you know the word SPINSTER, Originally a term applied to young unmarried women (since it was they who usually did all the spinning) eventually applied to unmarried women who were past the usual age to marry. I find that quite interesting. Here's a photo of the wheel with the llama wool, and one with the llama wool ready to use for a knitting or weaving project.

Summer Fun

This Summer I had a visit from my granddaughter. She is so much fun to have around , so full of life and so very mischievous. She is a little like her mother, but does not have a single shy bone in her body, even though she loves to say she is. I've been missing her dearly since she has returned home. Forgetting how much energy it takes to entertain a six year old. I must admit that after she left, I was quite exhausted. In this picture we both had our hair done, and I was so ready to take a nap. Even so, I had a great time and truly miss my little lady bug.

I've not knit as much as I would have liked, currently just trying to complete some projects I've started some time ago. A vest in silk, a cardigan, in a soft alpaca, moreno blend. and a Shawl, using Knit Picks, Alapaca Cloud. For the shawl, I am using the EZ 100th Anniversary PI Shawl, which was free on Raverly. This will be my first round shawl, I image you would fold it in half in order to wrap around your shoulders. I also have completed another shawl in alpaca, which I will post photos later, since I took that one to work, to leave in the office, when the AC is a little too high. In the spinning department, I have the most amazing llama wool, it is so soft, and smooth to spin, it should probably be used in a lace project, something special, and delicate. I don’t know yet if I would dye it, it has a natural cream color, which I think will make for a beautiful lace shawl, perhaps an old Estonian Lace shawl. Well keep cool, and enjoy the last few weeks of summer.

Feeling this Hat

Felt hat, made with Brown sheep yarn. I could not find a head to model my hat, so a tin can will have to do. So far, I've received several orders for this hat. If you're into pins, used them on the hat, they really look marvelous. Flowers are also a great idea. I bet this would look great in Red too. This is all for today blog world. I must get out and enjoy this beautiful weather we're having.

Where have you been?

Time just slips by so quickly. I don't know if it's just getting older, or all the responsibilities that comes with being older. I mean where the hell does it all goes! The time, I mean, I am still drinking the tequila from New Years! And it's April. I am not even going to get into politics, all I have to say about that subject is time will tell. Spring is in the air, with that comes gardens, vegetable gardens to be exact. I will probably only plant tomatoes and peppers this year. The peach tree is already showing signs of little peaches. I am planning to start an herb garden; I also have a lovely lemon tree. Pictures will be posted once I’ve started my seeding.

In the knitting department, I am into making hats, and purses. I have two felted hats in Brown sheep Wool. The pattern is The Bucket hat, by Bonnie. I plan to make these in different sizes to send out as gifts. They are super fast to knit and fun to wear and you may pin flowers, or any pin you like on them, changing as your heart's desires. One is going to my Sister, she had asked me for one like years ago, but I think she’s going to really like this one better. I know she’ll enjoy it during those cold New York Winters.

I get the spinning bug during the warmer weather, which is just in time. I have this gorgeous llama wool that I brought at The Taos Wool festival, while visiting New Mexico. It spins like butter.

Also I have about 8 oz of Churro wool. These Sheep are native to the area, and apparently the Navajo Native Americans used this wool to make many of their rugs. I am so excited, we found an Alpacas farmer who wants to sell me some of his wool for a fair price. Can't wait to see his wares..

Baby Booties

It's been a while since my last post, (Sounds like an AAA meeting) I was deep into remodeling. I should have taken before and after pictures of the Master bathroom. I am so in love with my new bathroom. Ever had an image in your head, and once you see it come to life, it's even better then what you would have figure? That's how I am feeling about my new bathroom. In the knitting department, I have a co-worker expecting a baby in the fall. I am going to make these cute little boots, I have been waiting for an opportunity to make these babies. It seems that all the babies in my life where coming into the world during the spring or summer, so they never seem right for the occasion. The best part, I all ready have all the yarn to get started. How cool is that! I may have enough to make several pairs. Just never know who may be having a baby. Happy Knitting!

Are we there yet?

This is Mario, my new Yorkie Puppy. My other Yorkie, Marty, really needed a friend to run around with, and play. I am happy to say they're getting along wonderfully. I was afraid there would be some Alpha dog issues. Marty is more then happy to allow Mario hang out with him, well, as long as he does not try to eat his food. I've always had a special fondness for the Yorkshire breed. I know they can be a bit yappy, and at times hard to housebreak (I don't have a problem training). They are just so loving, protective, and just so darn funny. The things they do are just simply adorable. They just don't allow their small statue stop them from doing anything that they have set their minds to accomplish.
Currently, in the fiber world, I am knitting a little something for myself, along with some socks for a gift. I'll post pictures later. I've been spinning more so then knitting, due to the warmer weather.

Sweater Curse

Kniters use the term Sweater Curse or the Curse of the Love Sweater to describe a situation in which a knitter gives a hand-knit sweater to a significant others, who quickly breaks up with the knitter. In an alternative formulation, the relationship will end before the sweater is even completed. The belief is widely discussed in knitting publications and some knitter claim to have experienced the Sweater Curse; a recent poll indicated that 15% of active knitters say they have experienced the sweater curse firsthand, and 41% consider it a possibility that should be taken seriously. I found this explaination on Wikipedia. Upon doing my own research. The conclusion I made is that; I believe if you have a really new relationship, and have not established his like or dislikes. Then maybe you should wait a little before knitting the sweater. With that said, I have a picture of my boyfriend, with one of the sweaters I have knitted for him. I think it’s important to allow them to select the colors, and style of pattern you are going to use for the sweater. It’s probably not a good time to introduce something totally new or out of character for him. I know my guy like dark colors, and is pretty much in the conservative side. This pattern was selected from the website, www.knitty.com, the yarn is from Debbie bliss, it's cotton. I believe it is called Denim. I am happy to say, that this sweater was knitted in 2005, and as you can see in the picture, he is still wearing it. Next time, I'll tell you what is the old remedy to over come the sweater curse.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

2009 is here. I wonder what wondrous thing this year will bring us. 2008 was good to me, I can’t complain at all, considering all that has happen during that year. I must say I was truly blessed. I hope 2009 will continue more of the same. I don’t normally make resolutions, as I feel I prefer to set goals. This year, I am going to try to be healthier, to myself and to the Earth.

This picture that I have posted is a quilt I have started about nine years ago. I can’t believe it took me so long to complete this quilt. That is correct nine years! I started this quilt in 2000, and then had to stop, due to other priorities, started again in 2007, with the intention to get back to it some time soon. Two weeks ago, I came across it while looking for something else. Right there and then, I decided that it will be completed before this year ended. So here it is, in all its glory. I am so proud, you do know what this means? Yes, I must start another quilt.

Now that the Elections are finally over, we can all concentrate on the up coming Holiday’s Seasons. It has been a Historic year, with our new President elect Obama. What has truly surprise me this year, has been the excitement of the young children. My Granddaughter, who is barely five, has been an Obama advocate. First things she asked upon waking up after Election Day was “Who Won!” To say she was very happy to hear the outcome would be an understatement. Instead just take a look at this picture and see if you can see her excitement upon finding out who will be our New President.

In the knitting department, I’ve started a sweater for myself, along with putting together a hooded jacket for my granddaughter. In the meantime, I’ve started a project which includes researching, an old myth. This myth is about the theories that if you knit a boyfriend a sweater he will most likely leave you. So many ladies are afraid to knit fiancee' sweaters, because of this theory. Personally, I have knitted my fiancé two sweaters, which he wears often. I must remember to take pictures, just in case he takes off. No matter what may happen, I have to admit, he looks dashing in them.

I had some Lamb Pride wool, in a color in which I wasn't too crazy about. So I made this. A bag for my laptop! It's really nice and thick, so if I bang it around, my laptop will be protected and safe. If you're interested in the pattern. It is located at www.knitty.com. Funk Nation

Funk, a word used to describe "to shrink from undertaking or facing." It can also be used to describe “a strong offensive smell." To my understanding, this just about covers all the feeling I associate with being in a Funk. It simply stinks. I am happy to say, I am determine to get out of this state of emotions and tackle some long over due projects. Like this for example. A sweater I started last year for my son. I used Knit and Picks, Wool of the Andes. In a color called Wheat. It was suppose to be in one color. However, once I began knitting for the sleeves. I discover, I did not have enough yarn to complete the sleeves, and to my dismay. Knit Picks, no longer sold this dye. My solution was to find a contrasting color, and what could be better then "Chocolate”.

Kalina's Visit

A picture of what the shawl I am knitting will look like.It's taking over one year to complete. I don't know why, but I just could not get my mojo right when I was knitting this one. I love knitting with Koigu PPPM yarn and it's colors are so pretty. However, the pattern was not easy to read. Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July. It's a brand new day and..............I'm feeling good!

Well hello everyone in blog world. It's been such a long time since I've last posted. Let's just say Decemeber was a month of ending. Many things in my world and for those in my families' world had ended in December. Now in June, things are starting to really heat up and bloom. For one thing, today I am a year older, and I have to admit, I am feeling really good. Took the day off from work, just to do some thing special for myself. Pedicure, shop for some new cloth, and maybe some nice summer shoes. Packing up and heading to the beach for the weekend with my favorite people in the world. Yeah life is good.

Hey did you think I forgot the knitting, spinning and any other fiber related hobbies? Heck no, I am still spinning, trying to polish off some gray shetland wool. Still have two shawls, one sweater, and two pair of socks to complete. I've also started a bag to hold my laptop. It's felted and I love the way it looks. Even so, I did finish knitting two pairs of socks. I believe one pair is called twisted vines, and the other Diamond shadows from Lisa Drazez. The yarn used for the twisted vine, was something I brought at the Maryland wool festival, for the Diamond Shadows, I use a Pink Opal yarn, I believe it's from the tropical collections. It's been getting too hot for knitting with any wool, so I many stick with the lace. Hopefully, next post we'll have other pictures besides socks. It's just that If I can't knit on the big projects, I always have a pair of socks with me. Wishing you all a happy and safe Summer!

Quick Note

It's been a while since my last post. All is well in the knitting department. Mostly trying to catch up with unfinish projects. For example, I have a baby blanket for a baby in May, a sweater for my son, and several other small items. Mostly getting ready for family visit in March. I am also excited to teach my sister how to knit. Now we can chat about our projects and give each other tips. Well with that said, I leave you with a pair of socks I've completed for a Knit along. "Oh Christmas tree”

This year I had no intention of putting up a tree, until my four years old grand daughter came for a visit. There's something about seeing a little kid get so excited about decorated a tree, the excitement is too contagious to resists. So this year I allow my little lady bug have at it. Well sure I helped a little, I mean she's barely three foot tall.

It’s been a while since I’ve last posted anything, I’ve done a little spinning and knitting here and there, but not as much as I would have liked to. The house has really occupied most of my time. I have completed another pair of socks; the pattern used was one of my favorite, called Monkey. I have a couple of sweaters I would like to cast for; even so, I have made a promise to complete a couple of unfinished projects before I being any new projects.

After

Here’s the transformation. I simply love my new floors. With the new paint job, I really think the wood brings out the colors. I can’t wait to get the rest of the stuff in and organized. I have wanted to do this ever since I brought this house. This will be another item to check off the list of things that I want to complete before the year end.

I am trying to decide, if I should stop dying my hair and just let the gray grow. I try to see how it would look and to be honest; I don’t think I really like it. I don’t know if it’s the fact that it makes me look older or the reality that I have so much gray hair in the first place. I think I’ll wait a couple of more years and then let it go. For now I’ve made an appointment and the grays got to go. There goes for going natural. Have a great weekend.

Before.

This is what my living room looks like now, the carpets been removed and soon there be smooth hardwood floors to enjoy. For now I must show patience and watch as little by little it all comes to a final climax. Even so, it’s taking so long. I know these things take time and in the end it will all be worth the wait. Meantime, as the men work hard to accomplish their task, I will keep myself busy and out of their way spinning this lovely autumn color merino wool. I've divided the wool in half to have enough for a pair of socks, or maybe a pair of gloves. Here's the result of that portion of the wool that I have completed spinning and plying. It’s a bit more yellow then I would have liked, I am hoping that it will look better once it’s knitted into something special. Next post we hope to have the grand finale and maybe an after shot.

Marty and Me!

How can any one resist these two early in the morning, if that does not bring a smile to your face, I don't know what will. The weather is starting to cool down a bit, well 80 is cool for us, after almost 4 weeks of 100 to 90 degrees weather, 80 start to feel darn good. There has been so many things going on this year that I can't seem to grasp that it's almost coming to an end. Soon the Holidays will be upon us, another year will end with so much still left to do. I have started several projects around the house that needed mending, after the tenants moved out. Little by little they are starting to take place. Thank goodness I have a partner who's handy with power tools. He's made these project go a lot smoother. I should have taken before and after pictures. Next week the carpet will be removed and wood will be laid out. Once this is completed, I get to move in the rest of my stuff. Which is going to be a job in itself, since I brought back a ton of stuff from Europe, which I manage to accumulate while I was there. I guess I can always give some items away or have a yard sale. In the knitting department, I have several projects to complete. I've been spinning mostly and not that much. Soon when all home projects are completed I'll have time to start something. I don't plan to allow the holidays to overwhelm me...I girl can dream any way.

I wanted to do something about all those plastic bags, that are so bad for the environment. I made this from cotton Debbie Bliss yarn, in Demin blue. Hold....

Which is the state in which all things fun to me have been for the last few months. Hoping that soon I'll be able to have the time to enjoy some knitting, spinning, or weaving. I don't know how those TV shows, where they show you how to remodel your home, always makes it look like so much fun. Don't believe a second of it. It's all hard work, and never ending. The only good part, is when it's done. Well by then you love the results and want to do something else. A vicious cycle I tell you.

In the knitting department, I've not picked up a knitting needle or project for that matter in weeks. I've done no spinning, or weaving. I do keep up with what what's new in knitting. Like the new Knit Picks wooden knitting needles. Any one seen them? They look really cool.

Work has been going well. I've made some new friends, even got invited to be part of a wedding. Still in other areas, I am being tested a bit, which is playing with some of my decision making. Big decision which will affect everything in my life.

First Circus

Circus was in town, so I took my granddaughter. She even got to be part of the act, not bad for her first circus. Currently, I don't really have much in the knitting department. Did manage to spin two skeins of yarn, I plan to use the yarn to knit up some socks. Trying to accumulate several pairs of socks for holiday gifts, I like to make little baskets with coffee, mugs, and a pair of socks, sometimes tea for those non-coffee drinkers. They make quick gifts and I find people really enjoy them. Some are surprise when they see a pair of knit socks as gifts, even so, they soon learn how comfortable a pair of home made socks can truly be. I am still getting settle from my move from Germany. Looking forward to being back in my house, among my own things. Must mention that I've also found a new friend. Meet Marty the yorkie. He and my grandchild have been getting acquainted. He's a real sweetheart and has a great personality. I think we're all going to get along just peachy.

Tidal Wave

It’s been a while since I’ve last posted on my blog. So many things are going on these last few weeks in my life that I’ve had little time to do the things I enjoy most. Like knitting and spinning, even so, I’ve manage to complete these socks. A pattern called Tidal Wave by Debby Lake. The pattern was simple and a quick knit. The yarn is merino which I have spun and dye. Hope everyone is keeping cool during these hot and humid days.

Summer Days

Summer has arrive with a bang. We have been getting 90 degrees weather and according to the weather man, it's going to be that way for the rest of this week. In the knitting department, I’ve completed a mesh bag. I wanted something to use instead of plastic bags. I used some really nice denim cotton yarn from Debbie Bliss. I’ll post a picture next time. So far this month has been full of changes. Every attempt to try to accomplish something positive has been encounter with some kind of blockage. At first, I was becoming emotional wondering if nothing could possibly go right. Now I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe there’s a reason for everything. I’ll just go play with some yarn and get lost in something that always feels right.

Dream Weaving

Here’s my first attempt on weaving, albeit a little wonky on the salvage. I find the whole process of weaving invigorating. You watch your pattern just come to life right in front of your eyes. What I weave is a sampler of different patterns, I used cotton as its cheaper and I did not want to waste good wool. Imaging how beautiful weaving a scarf using a blend of silk and moreno yarn will be. In the knitting department, I've done nothing but complete a pair of socks and start another for a Sock knit along. Maryland Sheep and wool festival was a lot of fun. This is what I brought at the festival.

Green Monday,

I don't think I've ever own a pair of green sock in my life. Well I do now. Still have to block them into shape. I made these a little shorter in order to wear them during the warmer weather. For this pair I used a cotton wool blend yarn from Opal.
We have a fiber group that likes to get together once a month to do all things fiber. We have weavers, knitters, needlework; however, the majorities are spinners. It was great to see some old faces and many new ones. Some of the members own angora goats. They have the most amazing mohair you have ever seen. I love to blend this fiber with wool and spin for lace. I am so missing my spinning wheel. I’ve also discover, that there's a new Yarn store in town. I hear they have some gorgeous yarn to drool over. I normally do most of my spinning during the summer and I tend to knit more during the fall and winter. So it’s like I automatically go into spinning mode. I won’t be getting my stuff till July. Meantime, I found a used floor loom, that's what it looks like in the picture on the top left. I was so anxious to begin classes only to find out they won’t be available till this fall. Well, there's always DVD's..

Easter Sock

I just completed knitting this sock, which has colors that remind me of Easter eggs. The pattern used is free on the Internet. Hatsuyo's Lacy Sock. I would recommend using a solid color in order to see the lovely lacy stitches. Even so, the pattern created by the Opal yarn was interesting. I don't recall the color of this Opal yarn. I believe it may be from the tropical colllection.

Georgia, Sweet Georgia!

I made it home. Here's a picture of Broad street in Atlanta. Home is about another 2 1/2 hours from there. I am glad to say, I made it home all in one piece. To travel now a days, you have to be in the Airport with in 3 hours of your flight. Security has really taken the fun out of traveling. I don't think I'll be getting on a plane anytime soon. I use to love to travel, now it's just not worth all the trouble. I think I'll just try to travel all around the USA in a car or train to see what it has to offer. I know there are tons of wonderful things to see right here in the good old USA. In the knitting department I've only had time to knit socks.

Sock Week !

I made these for my Mother. This pattern is called Hedera designer Cookie And these are for a quarterly sock Knit along. It so happens
that both of these sock are from the same designer.

The light blue yarn is "Opal" and the darker yarn is "Socks that Rock yarn" called "Blue Moon" a light weight Moreno. The pattern is called "Monkey". I had taken the label off the Opal yarn so I don't remember the color name, only that it was cotton. The Monkey sock pattern is very easy and a quick pattern to knit. I plan to use it again. The next time I post anything, I will be back in the States. I think I'll miss Germany a little. I've met some really great people. Even so, I look forward to being close to my love ones back home. I use to attend a group called the "Tangle Threaders" of Fiber aficionados, who got together once a month and share projects, ideas and chats. It was a mixture of Knitters, Spinners, Weavers, Crocheters. We would bring our spinning wheels and knitting projects and hang out. Nothing formal. The best part, if you needed help with anything, some one there would always give you a hand. I plan on going to weaving classes. It's been something I've wanted to do for a while now. It's one of my New Year's Resolutions. I will learn to weave this Year. I am also going to attend The Maryland Wool festival. What can I say "2007" is going to be a great year for me. Happy New Year!

So far this year has started with a bang. I return from my trip stateside, and found out that I shall be leaving Europe within a month or so. I decided to spend the Holiday weekend in Paris and what a weekend indeed. I had such a fantastic time site seeing all over Paris. Here I am riding a boat through the river, you can see how lovely the Eiffel Tower looks with all her lights on. The Champs-Elysees is one of the most beautiful mile-long stretch of road that I've ever seen. It's got the coolest shops and things to see, and if you're walking up to the Arc de Triomphe, it will be one of the most unforgettable experiences that you will have in Paris. If you're hungry, though, and don't want to spend a lot on food, avoid this street like the plague, and go into one of the little side streets instead and eat like a local. In the Musee du Louve, I got to see the Mona Lisa. Later on I visit Notre-Dame and the Napoleon's Tomb. My last stop before returning home was the Moulin Rouge. It was a lot like a Vegas show. Would you believe I did not find one single yarn store! In the knitting department, I've completed one cap hat and a scarf. I have tons of projects to complete, so maybe next post I'll have some pictures of knitting to share with you.

I did it!

I finally completed my Ariann sweater. I was having a really hard time getting the collar done. Even so, she’s really a pretty sweater. Now I must finish packing and get ready for my trip to the States. I am looking forward to a lovely Holiday season with all my loved ones. Wow, it's been a while since I last posted anything. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving's Day. There's so much going on in my life right now. I have about four knitting projects that needs to be completed. There's a trip to the States in December and a new job.

Which means that I shall be heading back to the states this spring. I am looking forward to being back with my fiancée; he's been so supportive with my career move. I miss him very much. Along with the rest of my family. Elysia is getting so big and I don't want to miss out on any more Holidays with out any of them.

I am so over joy, for the first time in my life, I can safely say I am done with Christmas shopping, mailed out packages and Christmas cards are in the mail and it’s only the 29th of November. Now I feel paranoid, I must have some kind of compulsive disorder. It’s as if being late has been such a part of me, that now I feel as if I messed up with my Karma. I guess now with all the time I have for myself I should get some of those knitting projects done.

Falling back

The Fall is my favorite time of the year. I simply love the Fall season, not just for the Holidays or the family get togethers, but for the great knitting weather. I just want to knit everything, like this sweater for example, it's feature in this month Vogue knitting magazine. I am motivated to make it for some one special this Christmas. Now who will that special person be?

Update on Arianne KAL; Currently I am on the second Sleeve, I plan to take this one on my trip next month to the states.

Tip of the day; Take old sweaters, felt in the washer, cut it into patterns for making mittens, pillow covers or glasses holders.

Me gusta me gusta Cormo me gusta!

I want to knit this wrap around sweater I saw on the cover of Knitscene. So after spinning some Cormo wool, which I dye red with some Jacquard acid dye. I also have some homespun Mohair which I have dye in a raspberry pink, I plan to use it for the sleeves and neck edges. I can't wait to start casting on for this project. It will have to wait however, until I am done with another project. I think this wrap sweater will look great over a black long dress and some killer boots.

This is a picture of my Grandma, she just turn 76 in September. Isn’t she a doll! She’s also a great-great grandma to my Grand Daughter. My grandmother use to crochet these awesome swans. She would crochet using cotton thread, with these really tiny needles. Once she was completed she would starch the crochet swan in liquid starch. Her dollies were precious with the little flowers in the center. She was the one, who taught me how to crochet. I just wanted her to know, that I miss her and I wish her the best Birthday ever.

SouthEastern Animal Fiber Fair
I once visit the Southeastern Animal and Fiber Fair in Asheville, North Carolina serveral years ago. I drag poor Armando all the way to this fair. The poor guy did not know what he was getting himself into. I use to engage him in long conversations about spinning and Alpacas. He has been so supportive of my crazy ideas. I took a class on spinning while I was there. I simply fell in love with the whole concept of making my own yarn. I have to admit that my first attempt at spinning was not very good. My yarn resemble rope more then yarn. I still have it, as a momentum of my first spinning experience. This was also my very first fiber fair. I had such a great time, and I can probably say, Armando had a pretty good time also. Here's a picture of "Enriquez" He's such a cutie. I hope to make it to the Maryland Fiber Fair next year.

Bad Hair Day!

I am having a great hair day, as for Chloe; well she’s still adjusting to her new do. Here are some shots of her before and after. Feeling sorry for her, I decided to knit her a little sweater to keep her warm. She loves her sweater and looks forward to putting it on every morning. I don’t think it will last very long, as I made it for her current size, not allowing much room for growth. Once she is fully grown, I'll probably have to redo it.

I have always wanted to learn how to weave, and I have even tried to convince, my fiancée, to take a class with me. I think he may enjoy weaving classes. Now after reading Sweet Georgia, I am getting that bug again. Even so, all that warping seems like a lot of work.

Spinning Wheel

Grey Yarn

As I have mention before, I spin. This is the grey Shetland wool, I promise to show you. My plans were to dye it, a moss green. However, I seem to like the nature grey color. I think it would make a lovely sweater for a male . Anyone have any suggestions for patterns?

So far I have been knitting away on my KAL Arianne. I would have been much farther along then I currently am, were it not for my little puppy Chloe’. Twice she has taken my needles and ran around the house with my yarn. Totally ruin my project. I think she’s getting back at me for the awful hair cut she received the other week. Chloe is a Yorkie, silky mix. I had her groom about a week ago, and expected a little puppy cut. Instead she came out with a crew cut. So I guess now we’re even.

I’ll post a before and after picture next time, so you can tell me what you think of Chloe's haircut. Yeah, you probably would run around the house with my needles too LoL. I had to knit her a little sweater in order to protect her from the early morning chill. I don't understand why a groomer would give a puppy such a short cut, knowing how cold winters are in Germany. The poor thing is going to need a coat!

Weinheim Germany
Here's a picture of Weinheim Germany. The town of Weinheim an der Weinstrasse, has preserved part of its medieval walls. In the old town are the Old Town Hall (1554) and historic old half-timbered houses. Higher up is Schloss Berckheim, set in a beautiful park.Above the town are the ruins of Burg Windeck (12th-13th). Still higher up is the Wachenbur (1913).

Well I made a gauge for Adriann, and needed to go up one needle size, in order to make the recommended gauge. Once I've completed all other duties. This baby is going to get all my attention. I have tons of spinning that needs to be done. With the weather changing, the nights seem to come upon me way too quickly. It's one of those things I dislike about the cooler weather. Next time, I'll post pictures of some of my skeins of yarn. I have this huge bag of grey Shetland wool, which I need to finish spinning. I was going to dye it; however, I kind of like the nature grey color. I have three spinning wheels and wanted to get a Saxony wheel. I mention this to Armando, who reply "Yeah, you need another wheel, since you only have three." with sweet sarcasm. Don’t you just hate it when they are right?

Baby Izzy

My niece Melissa is going to have a baby in December. I just completed crocheting this baby blanket for little Isabella. So excited, that there’s going to be a baby around to knit for. My own Granddaughter, who’s going to be three this month, lives in Florida and I just don’t get to knit for her as much as I want to. I wonder if Melissa is still knitting. I once taught her how to knit; however, I never got to teach her how to purl. I did however, taught my daughter how to knit when she was here to visit me last summer. She gets so excited and shares things with me that she has discover on the internet, which I have known for years. Still her excitement is contagious, even for us oldies.

I did it! I finally started a blog. I've been reading knitting blogs for years and always enjoy reading what everyone is knitting or any other crafts that interest me. Never really started my own, just figure it would take too much of my time. Since I've moved to Germany two years ago, I never figure that these blogs would make me feel as if I've kept up with old friends. Even though no one knows me LOL. I love reading Chicknit, Wendy and Carrieoke, just to name a few. Now I have join my very first KAL with Bonnie Marie. I am going to knit Ariann, with yarn from my stash. I have this lovely garnet color yarn that would be great for the fall. I won't be able to start till this weekend. Even so, the following Monday is a holiday so I should have enough time to get a good jump start on the Kal.
